The New York Yankees plan on sticking with their current starting rotation heading into spring training.
The Yankees were set on signing Cliff Lee for a major upgrade of their rotation but were spurned by the left-hander.
The team is still awaiting word from veteran Andy Pettitte to see if he will return or opt to retire.
Pettitte claims he is leaning toward retirement, which likely means he wants the Yankees to give him more money. (Read More…)

The Yankees are in the process of transitioning Jorge Posada from catcher to designated hitter.

The New York Yankees have agreed to a two-year contract worth $30 million with veteran closer Mariano Rivera.
Rivera, after a disappointing 2007 season, has seen his numbers return to normal the past three years.
He has been a mainstay at the back end of the Yankees bullpen since the mid 90’s and a part of several championship teams.
Rivera never really tested the free agent market, certain that he would finish out his career in pinstripes. (Read More…)

The New York Yankees are likely to increase their contract offer to free agent shortstop Derek Jeter.
However, the Yankees will not be increasingly it significantly, which is what they would have to do to meet Jeter’s demands.
The Yankees initial contract offer was a three-year deal worth $45 million. The team is willing to bump that up to $50 million.
Meanwhile, Jeter is looking for a contract offer of four or five years worth about $23-$24 million per year. (Read More…)
